august 16 . provo fun day

I'm semi ashamed to say this (I'm sorry to all the UTE fans), but I had a pleasant time down in utah county the other week. So much fun, in fact, that I am calling the adventure our "Provo fun day".

It started by hearing about this awesome food truck called Waffle Love. A food truck...now were talking. We had to track it down and get some. So we facebooked them and found that they were down at the Marriott Center. I picked up Katy after school and off we went.

I have to say that they were quite delisish. I have never had a waffle like this, but they were super dense and seemed rich. I got 2 for us to share (my eyes were bigger than my mouth) and we were having a hard time. I didn't even finish one.

They were out of chocolate sauce for the day so we went with peaches and cream on one, and biscoff sauce and cream on the other. I was disappointed by the peaches (Brigham City has ruined that for me...and I cannot wait for peach days!), they were bitter. But the biscoff sauce was amazing!!!! Had no idea what I was ordering, but I was pleasantly surprised when I put it in my mouth.

Katy was less than impressed. Oh wait, she is just the pickiest kid alive. But she did like the biscoff concoction and wanted more of that.

While I tried to finish our waffles, Katy found a stick and declared herself a unicorn. I could tell that this was just the beginning of the endless fun we would have that day.

Will's just always happy about being part of the "party". Fingers crossed that he actually likes food, unlike Katy! We'll go back and get you a waffle some day buddy!

Well I couldn't just drive all the way down to Provo and not go do some fun stuff so we headed to Bridal Veil Falls.

We had a blast there. I especially loved all the people watching, Katy love all the rocks!

And lastly we made a stop at the University Mall so we could check out the Disney Store. I forgot how great the play area is there, so we had to hit that up last.

august 12 . vivienne's blessing day

It's always fun to spend time with family....even when you have to get up at the crack of dawn to drive to Brigham City for a baby blessing at 9:00 am.

Ha ha, love the outtakes sometimes. This is what you get when I have a totally goofy face in the others and my family hates to take pics...

Vivienne and mom humored me though.

This picture makes me laugh. Gage, TJ, and Brynn have proven to be GREAT cousins...Will is still just getting used to all the noise, I guess!

Vivienne looked beautiful. Britney found the cutest rose bracelet (her middle name is Rose). I am still blow away by all that hair.

Even though they are still figuring it out, these two are becoming fast friends!

august 11

I'm so glad we made it to the sandy city hot air balloon festival. I guess it makes sense that they only launch the balloons in the morning, when they can see. In the evening (when we went) they do the balloon glow.

We met our friends the Davis's for dinner before hand. Darn I didn't think to get a picture all together. Katy and Annie thought the balloons were great. I think everyone got a little scared when they turned on the huge flames to fill them up. We were pretty close to one that particularly freaked Will out. He was a happy clam, then they pulled the gas and he lost it...scared him to death! Katy was a bit stand offish until Steve said it was a campfire flame!

He always laughs at the things I find for us to do...and drug his feet a bit to actually go to the festival...but he said he had a good time. He even said that it was pretty cool. Good husband award right there!

We told Katy she could choose something active to do this fall. She quickly blurted out that she would like to take karate! Where did that come from? I did some research and it looks like a lot of places wont even take you until you are 4 years old. Our neighbor mentioned that she was going to start her daughter in a dance class.

Katy has taken dance from a friend before, and seemed to really have a great time. I think she will really like this new class. But this made me laugh out loud when I asked her (after class) to do some of her favorite dance moves. This is what she gave me. Does the one of the right not look like she is getting ready to do a chuck norris round house kick? Maybe I should have looked harder for a karate class for her to join! We'll see where we're at with our favorite dance moves next year at the end of class!

Playing with the "chimes" at the Herriman library. We have been so busy lately to get over there. Poor Katy has (for a week straight) mentioned in her prayers, "please help us to go to the library tomorrow"! Glad that we finally got over there and got some new books to read!

august 7

Well it finally happened, I'm old. Ha. That, and Katy started her first year of preschool. THAT'S CRAZY, right? I mean wasn't it just yesterday she was Will's size? It's so cliché to say...but that went by way to fast!

I figured it would be a good practice to start off the day by having Katy write her name. Her "A's" are my absolute favorite part!

And just in case you were wondering....she still thinks I'm the funniest mom in town!

We went back to school shopping to pick up a few things. Are you sensing a theme here? She would not touch anything unless it had pink in it, on it, and all over it! For someone who grew up a total tom boy...I sure produced the girliest girl in the world!

Oh and Steve grabbed the pink polka dot back pack for like 3 bucks at the down east clearance center, go dad!

Again, I am the funniest mom in town.

Enough with the pictures there mom!

Ha ha still unpicking the embroidered name on the back pocket. I get so frustrated with that sometimes!

We had to get our "it's all about me" poster together for our first day. I wrote all of her answers down, just as she told me. And yes in the "I want to be a" section...that is, in fact, tire putter on-er (she thinks it's the coolest to go get the tires rotated)!

She asked me if I would assist her with her poster by coloring the dots and stars with various colors.

She wanted a picture with Chuck....

And Will...

She is going to a preschool about 5 minutes from our house. We are lucky to be able to go with some of our neighbors. When we got there, Bailey was there so we got some pics together.

Katy LOVES to hold hands, so she quickly grabbed Bailey's

I told her that her backpack and her dress matched. She quickly informed me that they both have polka dots, but that they are different colors of pink.

And we snapped this one with Embrie. Yup....gonna be a great year!

She came back from school and told me how much fun she had. She told me that they worked on lines and got to read a pop up book. We went and got some school supplies (for the art box, because they are such a great deal). We got her a binder, folder, notebooks, colored pencils, crayons, markers and scissors. She told me that she needed to work on her homework, and carried her binder all around and hasn't put it down.

She drew a bunch of pictures of everyone she knows. But the first person she drew was Mrs. Bre. She told me, "mom, Mrs. Bre is so special to me." I think it's going to be a great year!

I've never been over to the cultural celebration center in WVC, but we went on Monday night to help Steve kick off the national night out against crime. Steve helped with a K9 demonstration (which the crowd loved).

And they had a TON of stuff for kids. Katy got her face painted (requested glitter rainbow) and got a parrot balloon animal (perched on her shoulder). Needless to say, having a good time would be an understatement! So proud to be married to a man like Steve!

August 2

My mom celebrated her big 60th birthday on the 3rd....because she was going out of town on her birthday we decided to have a BIG party to celebrate with her before she left. Ya know, send her off in style?!?

We were trying to decide something so super special to do for her. It's not every day that you turn 60! We thought of everything, but with it being the heart of summer...pretty much everyone was going out of town one week or another (except us!!! ha). We concluded that the best way (the way mom would appreciate the most) would be to have a "fancy" dinner and get her a special present.

I offered to host...because, here at the Beardshall house, we are the height of fancy! Not really, I just love a good party.

We had salad, and our famous yummy BBQ grilled pizzas. We also made some killer Italian sodas that were amazing! I was so busy getting the pizza's going that I didn't get a picture of the soda station. If you like that kind of thing you should totally give this recipe a try! AMAZING! I think the home made syrups made them so good. I tried to get all creative up in here and made some pineapple syrup with my extras...but I would stick to berries. The pineapple was not the best!

Katy and Chuck decided to take power naps before our guests arrived. She talked me into letting her wear her new school jeans and shoes. I'm a sucker!

No party is complete without some serious decorating! I know the tissue balls are a bit over done, but I still love them! And lately I'm kind of obsessed with these fringe banners!

Britney made the most delicious cake ever! Chocolate malt with toasted marshmallow frosting in the middle. It did not disappoint!

To keep to the "fancy" theme we got my mom a wallet/coin purse from Tiffany Co. It was a hit, she loved it!

All in all....I think the party was a success!

I'm very blessed to have a mom like I do. She means the world to me and my family! I love her more than words. I hope your 60th year is your best! Britney, Katie and I had a blast planning your party!
You are an incredible mother, I have an amazing example for my own children in you!
